Composite or uPVC Doors: Which Are Better?
Composite doors are constructed using high-quality materials. This includes a steel frame with a solid wooden core and an insulating foam layer which helps with sound isolation, which is securely glued together and housed in GRP — Glass Reinforced Plastic.
uPVC doors, on the other hand, are much simpler to manufacture. They’re constructed using an insulated steel frame combined with uPVC (UnPlasticised Polyvinyl Chloride). While the high quality of composite doors is hard to beat, both types of doors have their benefits.
The Benefits of Composite Doors
Composite doors are manufactured using very sophisticated processes. As a result, they offer a wide range of benefits that uPVC doors can’t always compete with. Some of these include:
- Security: With these type of doors, you get an extra layer of security thanks to the glass reinforced plastic core.
- Style: Composite doors can be customised to your heart’s content as they’re available in a wide variety of colours, finishes and styles.
- Durability: Composite doors don’t really require any maintenance, especially when compared to wooden doors.
The Benefits of Composite Doors
Even though uPVC doors cost less, they still have some noteworthy advantages over composite doors. These include:
- Cost effectiveness: There’s no denying that uPVC doors cost a lot less than composite doors.
- More colour options: Thanks to a simpler manufacturing process, these doors can be made in more unique colours, which allows greater customisation and ability to get the colour you want.
